| Sri Shiva is the supreme Being functioning as the destroyer of ego and illusion, and the material universe at the end of each cycle of creation. He is worshipped in the form of a Linga, which represents the dissolution and unification of all forms into one undifferentiated reality, and the source of creation. He is also Nataraja, the Cosmic Dancer, whose dance sustains and energizes the entire universe. |
| Sri Parvati, the consort of Shiva, represents Shakti, the dynamic aspect of the Supreme Being. Shiva and Shakti are inseparable, like fire and heat. Shiva is the infinite source, while Shakti is the active manifestation. Parvati is also known as Amba, the Divine Mother, and is worshipped for compassion and protection. |
| Sri Subrahmanya is the second son of Shiva and Parvati. His name means "the highest state of spiritual perfection". He is the leader of the army of gods, to destroy evil and protect the good. He is worshipped as Guruguha, the teacher who guides us to the secret of spiritual knowledge. |
| Sri Lakshmi, the consort of Vishnu, is the goddess of prosperity. She is the embodiment of all types of wealth and power that are manifested in the Universe. She represents the eight types of blessings sought by human beings: health, wealth, courage, victory, fame and fortune, family, peace, and happiness. |
| Sri Rama is one of the ten incarnations of Vishnu. He taught by personal example the path of Dharma, the way of right living, and excelled in the noble virtues of truthfulness, performance of the duty, love, justice and valor. His story is told in the famous epic Ramayana. In the shrine, he is shown with his wife Sita, his brother Lakshman, and his most ardent devotee, Hanuman. |
| Sri Krishna is one of the ten incarnations of Vishnu. As a cowherd in his early life, and later as a ruler and spiritual teacher, he taught the path of selfless love, total surrender to God, and perfection in every action. His famous teachings are in the scripture Bhagavadgita. In the shrine, he is shown in his cowherd years with his consort, Radha. |
| The word Jagannath literally means "Lord of the Universe". Thus, he represents the Supreme Being. In the shrine are three wooden images of Jagannath, his brother Balabhadra, and his sister Subhadra. The worship of Jagannath, which stresses universal brotherhood and the equality of all humanity, comes from the state of Orissa. |
| The manifestations of the supreme Ravi (Sun), Chandra (Moon), Kuja (Mars), Budha (Mercury), Guru (Jupiter), Sukra (Venus), Sani (Saturn) Rahu (Northern Nodal point of Moon) and Kethu (Southern Nodal Point of Moon) constitute the planetary forms of Vedic Deities through whom Ishwara (Lord) is invoked and worshipped in Hindu Temples as per Aagama Sastra (a discipline describing various forms of worship).
